Vintage Computers and Electronics

Vintage computers and electronics are something that we have actively collected for many years. We sometimes purchase a collection of technology as we see the value in some items and want to see it go back into the experimenter, collector, and hobbyist communities.

This is a listing of computer systems, accessories, and electronic components which we have saved which are all looking for new homes.

All of the equipment is older technologies and generally untested (unless where noted). We do our very best to show accurate photographs of the equipment and provide descriptions where possible.

Looking for new components and accessories? Be sure to visit the PCBoard.ca site where we have everything from Capacitors, Resistors, Connectors, LEDs, and much more.

Bartlett Labs – MISE – Model I System Expander – $150.00 US –  1 Available

The Bartlett Labs MISE (Model I System Expander) is an add-on device for the vintage Radio Shack TRS-80 Model I microcomputer. It connects to the buffered expansion port on the Expansion Interface or directly to the Model I keyboard.

Features and Benefits:

  • Direct-booting solid state hard disks on Compact Flash, with LDOS-5.3.1 preloaded. No boot floppy or ROM modification is required. Each bootable image can hold up to 64MB, and multiple images on CF cards are supported. That’s a whole lot of space for programs mostly written for 16KB RAM. Dual CF cards can be used for additional storage or easy backup.
  • 10/100 Mbps wired Ethernet connection (up to 8 active IP sockets) with included software: FTP and TFTP servers, FTP client, DHCP client, SNTP client, Telnet client, and Telnet server and DNS client demo programs. Globally-unique MAC address (EUI) provided. Easily move files to and from your TRS-80! Drag and drop!
  • Real-time clock/calendar with battery backup, compatible with the vintage Alpha Products Newclock-80. Battery backup means the date and time will be accurate and automatically set at every system boot.
  • Crystal-clear SVGA display output for an 800×600 @ 60Hz monitor, no software required. One-of-eight selectable foreground, background, and border colors. Emulation of the vintage high-resolution PCG-80 and 80-Grafix devices. 80-column text display mode available. Using the VGA display is optional; you can still use the original CRT monitor if you prefer, or you can even use both at the same time.
  • ROM extension including drivers for the hard disks, real-time-clock, and double-density floppy adapter, if you have one. None of these drivers need consume precious high memory.
  • Joystick port for Atari 2600 compatible joysticks. Works with most vintage Model I games.
  • 256-byte general-purpose Flash EEPROM for persistent storage.
  • Unit includes two preinstalled Compact Flash cards, one 2GB, the other 8GB

Kaypro II Luggable CP/M Machine – $140.00 US –  Sold

Kaypro II system. Unit is clean and in really good shape. Was able to power up the unit, and received the insert disk notification. Unit is complete with keyboard, but is missing the keyboard (RJ11?) cable, so I was not able to do any testing beyond a brief power-up.

Machine has two floppy drives, and a couple of manuals.

TRS-80 4P

TRS-80 4P System – $225.00 CDN   Sold

TRS-80 Model 4P. The system is in good condition, would rate a 7-10.

Unit powers up and boots from the included Lo-tech TRS-80 IDE Adapter which has a 128MB drive installed on it. The drive is pre-loaded with LDOS and boots up to the LDOS prompt.

Case and keyboard are in good condition, slight discoloration for its age, with the keyboard having all keys and functions.

There are two 5.25″ drives installed, LDOS reports each as being 40 cylinder double-density, one being a single-sided drive, the other as double-sided.

The back of the unit shows an internal modem card installed.

The screen is a white phosphor model and is a bit dim. The screen also “shimmies” during floppy drive access which is an indication the integrated power supply is a candidate for re-capping.
